Celebrity Gives Back: Jack Johnson Gives 100% of Proceeds from Recent Tour

Written by Marketing Intern Nandini Kavuri

There is no question that music has the power to inspire change. There have been several musicians have helped create movements throughout history. Songwriter and artist, Jack Johnson, is currently using his popular music to help green initiatives and to help clean up the gulf. The singer graciously gave 100% of the proceeds from his recent "To the Sea" tour, which was donated to over 150 community groups.

From the sustainable biodiesel tour busses to the eco friendly tour merchandise, the 34-date tour was very environmentally friendly. In fact, even the new "To the Sea" album, which was recorded in two solar power studios, is also green. The tour encouraged fans to reduce waste, recycle, and utilize sustainable local food. Johnson's foundation recently pledged $70,000 to the restoration of the gulf.
