Music has been an outlet of expression for centuries. With each generation comes a new sound, new cause and something new to sing about. Our generation has been coined the "YouTube generation." If you can manage to gain thousands of views for your YouTube video, you are one step closer to stardom. The band OK Go is the epitome of this.
Their videos have been huge hits, accumulating over 40 million views on their YouTube channel. This cultural phenomena sent them on the fast track to being major rockstars. Instead of basking in their glorifed fame, this band is using their huge amounts of Web popularity for good. Their newest video, "White Knuckles," has over seven million views and raises awareness for animal shelters. The video includes cameos from numerous dogs, many of which are rescues. OK Go teamed up with the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in hopes of finding homes for these animals and to prevent animal cruelty.
To hear great music and do your part, visit OK Go’s website. The proceeds will go directly to the ASPCA, specifically supporting rural, volunteer-run animal shelters in America.
