A nation’s most precious resource is its children. Unfortunately, nearly two billion children in the developing world receive inadequate education or no education at all. In fact, one in three children do not finish the fifth grade. The nonprofit organization, One Laptop Per Child, is seeking to educate disadvantaged children and bring them out of poverty.
This simple, rugged, low-cost, low-power laptop can give underprivileged children an education they would not have been able to receive otherwise and offer them hope for a better future. Not only do children teach themselves to read and write with these laptops, but 50% also teach their parents how to read and write!
Find out how you can get involved with One Laptop Per Child and help eliminate poverty. Visit http://laptop.org/en/participate/get-involved.shtml.
